Roebuck Awarded Contract for Hilldrup Moving and Storage Expansion

Roebuck Buildings Co. was awarded the contract for the construction of an expansion for Hilldrup Moving and Storage. This building was designed by Jerry Rives of Roebuck Buildings Co. and is the third time Roebuck has been selected for work at the Duncan location.  Hilldrup Moving & Storage is a full service moving and storage company offering domestic, international and commercial moving and storage services.  Hilldrup’s home office is located in Stafford, VA.

Roebuck Employee Participant in Leadership SC Program
Spartanburg, SC
David Harrelson holds a position in Business Development for Roebuck Buildings and was recently nominated and accepted into the 2014 Leadership SC program which is the state’s oldest and most recognized leadership development program in the Palmetto State.  Leadership South Carolina (www.LeadershipSC.org ) was created 30 years ago by then-Governor Dick Riley at the request of business leaders and the State Chamber of Commerce. It has been in serving the state continuously since and has more than 1,300 alumni all across the state and Southeast.

Since 1979, Leadership SC has been developing leaders in communities all across the state with the goal of challenging and enlightening participants on the issues and assets of our state.  As a result of being better informed, Leadership South Carolina graduates are better equipped to make decisions for their organizations as well as move the state in a positive direction.  Many graduates are found in elected offices across the state, including the state Legislature, county councils and local governments.

Leadership South Carolina’s core program begins in September and ends in April, accepting no more than 50 participants.  Participants are competitively selected through a matrix designed to bring the most diversity in terms of ethnicity, geographic location, employment and community works. The core program is conducted through six three-day sessions in various parts of the state.

Roebuck was awarded the contract for the construction of an education wing for Central Church of Christ.  The wing consists of classrooms and a new entrance atrium.  This building was designed by Jerry Rives of Roebuck Buildings Co.

Roebuck, SC
Roebuck hires Buddy Corn as Project Manager. Corn brings 15 years of experience as Project Manager and a total of 35 years in the construction industry. Buddy has been involved in numerous local projects including Carolina Alliance Bank, Mary Black Foundation (LEED Gold Certification), Spartanburg County Foundation, First Presbyterian Family Life Center, and many projects at his alma mater Wofford College. Corn holds a B.A. in Government from Wofford College.

Roebuck awarded contract for Lear Seating
Tuscaloosa, AL
Roebuck Buildings was recently awarded the Design-Build contract for Lear Seating in Tuscaloosa, AL.  This is the second Lear facility that Roebuck has constructed.  This facility is to support the Mercedes plant in Alabama.  Lear is a tier one supplier of two critical systems to the global automotive industry – Seating and Electrical Power Management Systems.  The building was designed by Jerry Rives, AIA for Roebuck Buildings Co.

Roebuck awarded contract for H.A.L.T.E.R. Arena
Spartanburg, SC
Roebuck Buildings was awarded the contract for the construction of the H.A.L.T.E.R. (Handicapped Athletes Learning To Enjoy Riding) Arena in Spartanburg, SC.  The new facility is on the SC Deaf and Blind School campus.  H.A.L.T.E.R. is a non-profit Therapeutic Horseback Riding program and has served handicapped residents of Spartanburg (and surrounding counties) and students at the South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind since 1987.  The Ground Breaking ceremony was August 17.
Therapeutic Horseback Riding is a growing therapeutic field in the United States, Canada and Europe. Recognized by the American Physical Therapy Organization and the American Occupational Therapy Organization, Therapeutic Horseback Riding has received national media attention. USA Today, People, CNN and CBS networks have done features on the topic.
The building was designed by Jerry Rives of Roebuck Buildings Co.

Roebuck Recently Completed Projects at Mitsubishi Polyester
Greer, SC
Roebuck Buildings recently completed several projects for Mitsubishi Polyester in Greer SC.  Roebuck completed the Line 8 and Black Silo projects. Mitsubishi Polyester Film Group is a global leader and one of the largest suppliers of polyester (PET-polyethylene terephthalate) film, and is a supplier for a wide range of existing high-quality customized Diafoil® and Hostaphan® brand PET films as well as for customized products. The Black Silo building was designed by Jerry Rives, AIA for Roebuck Buildings Co Inc and Line 8 was designed by Mustang Engineering, Greenville SC.

Roebuck recently hired Ryan Mabus as Project Manager. Ryan has extensive construction management experience and has been involved in a number of area construction projects including the Kroc Community Center which had LEED Silver Certification.  Other projects included new construction and interior upfits.  Mr. Mabus is a graduate of the AGC Construction Management Program.

Roebuck recently hired Sandy Elliott in Roebuck’s Payroll and H.R. Department. Sandy has worked in the accounting field for 27 years before joining Roebuck.  She will handle payroll and human resources for the company.  Mrs. Elliott is a resident of Spartanburg. Sandy majored in Business Administration with concentration in accounting at USC-Upstate.

Roebuck Buildings awarded contract for Metropolitan Sewer Office Addition
Donaldson Center, Greenville, SC
Roebuck Buildings was recently awarded the contract for the construction of an office addition at Donaldson Center in Greenville SC. Metropolitan Sewer District is a special purpose district that operates and maintains sanitary sewer facilities in Greenville County. Metro serves approximately 58,950 customers with more than 602 miles of collector lines, 9 pump stations and 10 miles of force main. The service area extends from northern Greenville County in the Slater Marietta area to the southern portions of the county, and east and west to the Greenville County line. They also serve the Piedmont area in Anderson County. The building was designed by Langley and Associates Architects in Greer SC.

Roebuck was selected to Construct the new BMW Associate Family Heatlh Center
Greer, SC
BMW Manufacturing Co. LLC has contracted with Roebuck Buildings Co. to construct the new Associate Family Health Center near their Greer manufacturing plant. Batson Associates designed the 25,143 square foot facility’s white metal panel exterior in keeping with the high-tech character of the BMW campus, while planning a spa-like interior feel. A monumental wall of “ground face” concrete masonry will parallel the main lobby space and will extend beyond the exterior walls to mark the building entrances. The facility will house a wide range of health services including primary care, occupational health, physical therapy, optometry, a dental practice, and a Walgreen’s pharmacy. The project has been designed to achieve LEED certification from the US Green Building Council, reflecting BMW’s commitment to the health of the environment, as well as that of their associates and their families.

Roebuck recently awarded contract for US Corrugated Site Work and Scales
Gaffney, SC
Roebuck Buildings was recently awarded the contract for a site work, paving, and truck scales for US Corrugated in Gaffney SC. US Corrugated operates a high performance linerboard mill near Cowpens, South Carolina. The 700+ ton per day facility recycles both old corrugated containers and mixed papers to produce both corrugating medium and linerboard in a wide range of basis weights.

Roebuck Buildings recently completed the Phase I Sanctuary Addition for Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Moore, SC.  This Design-Build project consists of a new Sanctuary and classroom addition.  Phase II which will start in February will convert the old Sanctuary into new meeting and classroom.  The project was designed by Jerry Rives, AIA for Roebuck Buildings Co, Inc.

Roebuck Buildings Co., Inc-Awarded Lear Corp. Project
Greer, SC
Roebuck Buildings was recently awarded the contract to build a new facility for Lear Corporation, a leading global supplier of automotive seating. The new facility will consist of approximately 117,600 sq. ft. The exterior of the building will be insulated precast concrete on 3 walls and 2” insulated metal wall panels on the expandable wall side. Lear will move into their new facility, located in Greer, SC, in April of 2009. The $10.8 million investment is expected to generate 140 new jobs.

Roebuck Buildings was awarded the contract to design and build a 40,000 sq. ft. addition to the PCI facility in Wingo Park on N. Blackstock Rd in Spartanburg. The new addition will be used for a warehousing. PCI manufactures landscape fabric for the nursery and agricultural market. Roebuck Buildings Co Inc built the original facility and the addition will be completed Fall 2008.

RBC has completed the design and construction of a new 90,000 square foot facility for Bericap North America, a major international producer of specialized plastic closures. Bericap is the first industry to be located at the Upstate Corporate Park in Cherokee County. The building for Bericap will feature the use of automated state-of –the art injection molding equipment and processes, which will be housed in a climate controlled food grade environment.

RBC has been awarded a contract for the design and construction of a 41,000 sf expansion to Lift-Tek in Westminster, SC. Construction has begun and is expected to be completed in June of 2008. The expansion will double the current size of the facility to 80,000 sf and add 50 new jobs to Oconee County. Lift Technologies, Inc. is a global supplier of masts, carriages, integral side shifters, and fork positioners for the mobile material handling market. The company’s market reach includes industrial truck, rough terrain, construction, and agricultural equipment applications.

The Steadman Hawkins Clinic of the Carolinas celebrated the openning of the new Bioskills Innovation Lab. The grand openning for the teaching facility was held October 28. This is the latest of many projects Roebuck Buildings Co., Inc. has completed at the Mary Black Memorial Hospital campus.

Members of Greater Hopewell Baptist Church and guests celebrated the opening of their new sanctuary for their first service on August 12, 2007. Roebuck Buildings was selected as the general contractor for this project with Peyton Howell serving as Project Executive and was on site for the ribbon cutting.
